Seong Joong Kim is one of the leading members of the International Trade & Customs Practice at Kim & Chang, with more than ten years of experience as a negotiator and litigator in international trade law and customs matters.

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Kim was with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (currently the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy), where he represented Korea on numerous WTO panels and Appellate Body trade dispute cases relating to trade remedy, technical barriers, SPS and intellectual property. Mr. Kim has also participated in numerous Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations on behalf of the Korean Government, including negotiations with China, Vietnam, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia, as well as mega-FTAs, including Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), China-Japan-Korea (CJK) FTA, and the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). He has also participated in Bilateral Investment Treaty negotiations with European, Asian and African countries.

Mr. Kim brings his insights and experience accumulated over years of negotiating bilateral and multilateral trade agreements and handling various international trade dispute matters, to provide international enterprises and government agencies with advice regarding policies and negotiation strategies, as well as creative and insightful legal advice on matters of international dispute settlement, particularly with WTO and ISDS, trade and investment policy, trade and investment compliance, and trade remedy enforcement and investigations.
